Interview with Corrie Ten Boom

Gospel

I love how she corrects Pat Robertson by saying that it was not “what” but “who” that saw her through her trials.  Clearly she has lived a life that has experienced the power of the Holy Spirit living and working through her, and we can see wonderful examples of God’s providence in the story of her life.  But what is striking about Corrie Ten Boom is her love of God and the way she worships Him with her very personality.  She knows what David knew; that we worship the person of Jesus Christ and not an abstract thought.  The first question in the shorter catechism is “What is man’s chief end?”  Answer: “To glorify God and to enjoy Him forever.”  Corrie has learned through her experiences to lean on God and to trust in Him for all of her strength; and as she quotes Romans 5:5, “And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us,” she reflects that love demonstrated to us through the work of Jesus Christ and proclaimed to us through the Gospel.
