So Where Do We Start

October 7, 2009

Anxious,…that was my first sense after starting this blog.  It’s one thing to say you’re going to start something; a business, a marriage, a career path.  It’s often quite another to proceed down the path.  OK, ok,…this is only a blog; big deal.  But a little of my melodrama was that I went from thinking this would be a good way to journal, to the realization that words didn’t just fall on to the screen, to the knowledge that there’s a gazillion things of Christ to talk about.  And, like much of my reading the last two years or so, I’ve been bouncing around from topic to topic and focusing on this and that and everything in between.

So, all that said,….why don’t we just start here,…

I can’t think of a better way to begin than to briefly reflect on the sacrifice of Christ and what He purchased for us all.  I’ve often considered this to be one of the main concepts we need to keep in our “toolbox” for daily living.  Others being the sumpreme, magnificient Holiness of God and the utter fallen, dead, and depraved nature of man.  These are not things that are at once grasped and then placed to the side.  As Piper has said, we must preach to ourselves the gospel everyday.  I believe it is crucial for our growth and victory in Christ.  What do y’all think?

In the coming days I hope to take a look at Psalm 19 and see how David considered God.
